The Jerusalem Post: A comparison between Marwan Barghouti and Abdullah Öcalan

The Jerusalem Post newspaper, said that between Barghouti and Öcalan – the release of prisoners in exchange for hostages.

The friendly relationship between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hamas leaders, and Erdogan’s talk to Hamas leaders about the Turkish efforts made to bring humanitarian aid into Gaza and reach a ceasefire, and Erdogan’s demand to exchange prisoners on both sides.

If there is an agreement to release all the prisoners and hostages on both sides, this will mean the release of Marwan Barghouti, who some call “Palestinian Mandela” and who was sentenced to five life sentences.

The fate of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, who, the author says, changed his views and began adopting peaceful forms of political struggle, in contrast to his beginnings, which were characterized by violence.

Millions of Kurds and some academics around the world see Ocalan as a pivotal figure for peace in the Middle East, as the author says.

In an interview that Öcalan gave to a Greek television station in the 1990s, in which he said that he opposed the bombing of civilians, and noted that Hamas is harming the Palestinians.

Öcalan also mentions in the interview, according to the Jerusalem post, that the biggest supporter of Türkiye in the United States is the Jewish lobby, and expresses his opposition to that.
