Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plane avoided Canadian airspace due to the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court indicted Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the 15-month Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed shortly after the International Criminal Court warrants were issued that his government would comply with them.

It’s noteworthy that US President Donald Trump, who took office last January, immediately began targeting the court with sanctions and legal consequences, and the United States – like Israel – doesn’t recognize the authority of the International Criminal Court.

The International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan became the first person to be targeted with economic sanctions and a travel ban.
