The Israeli Minister of Energy tweets outside the Israeli government flock… No One Makes Peace Agreements with the Weak in the Middle East

Israel’s Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen said Wednesday that Israel should focus on maintaining its security, not negotiating normalization agreements with Saudi Arabia.

In an interview with local Israeli radio, Cohen noted that the peace agreement with Saudi Arabia isn’t important right now, and he can wait.

“Security precedes peace… No one makes peace agreements with the weak in the Middle East, and the main thing we need to focus on now is security,” he said.

Cohen’s comments contradict President Isaac Herzog, who on Tuesday called on the Jewish state to seriously consider normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia, calling the move a “game-changer”.

Cohen stressed that Saudi Arabia shouldn’t specify the terms of the deal during talks with Riyadh, but Tel Aviv should be the one who sets the terms.

“The Americans want to achieve two things: stop the war and make a peace deal with Saudi Arabia… They want a political achievement before their elections”.

However, Cohen believes that Israel should focus on the wars its waging in Gaza and on its northern border with Lebanon, and once those wars are stabilized it can talk about a peace agreement with Saudi Arabia,” he said.

Cohen said, “The moderate Muslim world, including Saudi Arabia, is now examining Israel… After we finish the resolution in Gaza and on the northern border with Lebanon, we will talk about a peace agreement with Saudi Arabia”.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly rejected any deal that requires Palestinian statehood.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said Monday that no Palestinian state will be established either during this period of our government or in any other future government.

Gallant added during a Likud party meeting that any future Arab state will normalize with Israel, and claim that Israel promised it the establishment of a Palestinian state, knowing that its lying to its people to justify normalization.
