The Israeli landing near the Syrian capital!
Israeli Kan Channel revealed that the airdrop operation carried out by Israeli forces in Jabal al Manea, southwest of Damascus, targeted an air defense base used by Iranian forces during the reign of former Syrian President Bashar al Assad.
The Israeli channel’s correspondent confirmed that Israeli fighter jets launched several raids simultaneously with the Syrian army’s attempt to destroy the devices, resulting in human casualties.
According to sources, Syrian army units discovered surveillance and eavesdropping devices at the site on Tuesday.
While attempting to dismantle them, they were subjected to a direct Israeli airstrike, resulting in the deaths of seven Syrian soldiers.
Reuters quoted two Syrian military sources as saying that an Israeli army unit carried out an airdrop on the strategic area, which lasted for two hours before withdrawing.
Later, four Israeli helicopters arrived and dropped off dozens of soldiers without engaging in direct clashes with Syrian forces.
The Israeli Kan Channel correspondent noted that the operation, which lasted over two hours, included movements of unknown nature, but that the Syrian army was able to destroy part of the eavesdropping systems and retrieve the bodies of the dead.
It’s worth noting that Jabal al Manea was previously the headquarters of an Iranian air defense base before it was destroyed by Israel prior to the fall of the Assad regime.
A number of members of the new Syrian army are currently stationed in the area.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that Syrian army forces discovered surveillance and eavesdropping devices in the Jabal al Manea area south of Damascus during a field tour conducted by the army.
While attempting to deal with these devices, the site was subjected to an Israeli airstrike, resulting in the deaths of several army personnel, the injury of others, and the destruction of several military vehicles.
SANA confirmed that Israeli airstrikes and drone attacks continued until the evening of August 27, preventing forces from reaching the targeted site.
Despite this, Syrian army units were able to destroy some of these systems using appropriate weapons and retrieve the bodies of the martyrs.
Later, Israeli aircraft launched additional raids on the same location, followed by an airdrop, the details of which haven’t yet been revealed, amid intense Israeli reconnaissance flights in the area.
These attacks come in light of a previous announcement by the Israeli Ministry of Defense that the Israeli army would continue its presence on Mount Hermon and wouldn’t withdraw from the higher area.
