The Israeli cabinet approves a plan to expand the Gaza war as the al Qassam announced targeting Israeli troops in the Strip
The Israeli Security Cabinet approved, on Monday, a plan to expand the genocide against the Palestinians, including the occupation of the Gaza Strip and its continued presence there.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office issued a statement attributed to a political official, explaining the cabinet’s deliberations and decisions.
The statement stated that the cabinet unanimously approved the operational plan proposed by IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir to defeat Hamas and return the captives, which is completely consistent with what the prime minister has said in recent months.
The statement added, “The cabinet overwhelmingly agreed to the possibility of distributing humanitarian aid, if necessary, which would prevent Hamas from controlling supplies and destroying its ability to govern”.
The statement continued, “The cabinet discussion stated that at this stage there is enough food in Gaza”.
The Israeli allegations regarding aid come despite international relief organizations, including the World Food Program and UNRWA, announcing that their stocks of aid and flour in the Gaza Strip have run out, warning of a famine, and official Palestinian announcements of deaths from severe malnutrition.
Netanyahu said during the discussion, “This is a good plan because it can achieve both goals: defeating Hamas and returning the prisoners,” according to the same statement.
The Israeli Prime Minister explained that the plan differs from its predecessors in that we are moving from the method of incursions to occupying and remaining in the territories.
On the other hand, the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced Monday morning that two Israeli soldiers were killed and wounded, and that two tanks and a bulldozer were targeted east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
“During a complex ambush, Qassam fighters managed to target a Zionist infantry engineering force with an anti-personnel missile,” the Qassam Brigades said in a statement on Telegram.
They continued, “Then, they engaged the force from point zero with machine guns, killing and wounding members of the force”.
“After that, our fighters were able to target two Zionist tanks and a military bulldozer with 105-caliber aYassin missiles near the separation fence in the al Farahin area east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip,” according to the al Qassam statement.
On Sunday, the al Qassam Brigades announced the detonation of an anti-personnel bomb targeting an Israeli infantry force east of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, on Saturday, killing and wounding two Israeli soldiers.
On the same day, the Israeli army announced that an Israeli officer and soldier were killed, and the serious and moderate wounding of others, in a battle in Rafah.
