The Israeli army is lowering its expectation regarding disarm Hezbollah and focusing on creating a Yellow Line.
The Israeli media reported on Friday that the Israeli army has retracted its disarmament of Hezbollah as a goal to continue the ongoing war on Lebanon, considering that achieving this item requires a “full occupation” of Lebanese territory.
With the start of the current aggression on Lebanon on March 2, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened, in a statement, not to end the attacks before the threat coming from Lebanon disappears and Hezbollah is disarmed.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on March 25 that the dismantling of Hezbollah was a central goal and that the battle was still in full swing.
In a notable retreat from those goals, Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the IDF confirms that the disarmament of Hezbollah isn’t a goal at this time.
The Israeli channel added that this disarmament requires a complete occupation of Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said that its plan in southern Lebanon included “the non-return of the residents of the buffer zone as part of a future agreement,” without giving details.
It claimed that the IDF is trying to stabilize the northern border with Lebanon, stop anti-tank threats, and deepen Hezbollah’s losses.
According to the Israeli official Broadcasting Corporation, an Israeli army source said that the Israeli army plans to establish a “security zone” 2-3 kilometers deep inside Lebanon, while destroying villages and buildings and preventing the return of their residents, without giving further details.
Disarming Hezbollah isn’t a combat goal at the current stage during the war, according to the source.
According to Doron Kadosh, a military correspondent for the Israeli Army Radio, as he wrote on X that the tone within the army seems more pessimistic towards achieving the goal of disarming Hezbollah.
He explained that the IDF recognizes that the statements to disarm Hezbollah as a goal of the war were too ambitious, and that the army has become more pessimistic about this goal.
These developments come as Hezbollah continues to attack IDF concentrations, military positions and northern settlements.
