The Coordination of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRRI), an alliance of pro-Iranian Iraqi factions, has warned Syrian President Ahmed al Sharaa, which is known to be a military move towards Lebanon, considering it a declaration of war on what it called the entire “axis of resistance”.

In the statement, the Coordination stressed that any hostile move towards Lebanese territory, whatever the pretexts and in coordination with what it described as the “Zionist-American enemy”, would amount to a comprehensive declaration of war, warning that this would turn the region into an open arena of fire.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq is defined as an alliance of armed factions in Iraq that have close ties to Iran and operate under the umbrella of what is known as the Axis of Resistance, which also includes factions such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, and these factions have appeared on multiple occasions during the escalating regional conflict, declaring their readiness to intervene or respond if the conflict expands to other parties in the region.

The Iraqi Factions Coordination threatens Sharaa if he coordinates with the United States or Israel and moves against Lebanon or Hezbollah, “If you dare to violate the sovereignty of Lebanon and its patient and resistant people, we will turn your land into an open arena for fire”.

This warning came at a time when the region is witnessing a broad escalation in military actions between regional and international powers, especially with the expansion of the conflict that began between the United States and Israel on the one hand, and Iran on the other hand, to include neighboring countries such as Lebanon and Gulf countries, and Israeli strikes on targets in Lebanon continued, resulting in a number of civilian casualties, according to the statistics of the Lebanese Ministry of Health, while Iran responded strongly, which strengthened fears of the expansion of the conflict.
