The Iranian army warned against establishing any bases for the Israeli army beside its borders in Azerbaijan and Armenia, and stressed its “intolerance” of the presence of terrorists and takfiris in the conflict zone between the two countries.

The chief spokesperson of the Iranian armed forces, Brigadier General Abul Fadl Shikaraji, said in statements he made on Saturday, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has common borders with the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and attaches importance to the security of its borders and its citizens living in the borders, so the two countries must adhere to the utmost accuracy because any exposure to the Islamic Republic The Iranian will face a resolute response”.

According to the Iranian “Fars” news agency, the spokesman stressed “the need to return Armenia to the lands it occupied from the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Islamic Republic of Iran hopes that this will be achieved through dialogue and not to harm the lives and property of the citizens of the two countries because of the war,” as he put it.

Shkaraji affirmed his country’s respect for the two parties to the conflict, stressing the need to liberate the “occupied territories”, and the need not to harm the people of this region, who are from the Armenians “especially the Armenians living in Muslim areas”.

The spokesman referred to his country’s “excellent” readiness to confront any “threat on our borders”, through the deployment of border guards and units of the Revolutionary Guard.

Shikaraji called on the two parties to the conflict in Karabakh not to allow the entry of the takfiris, stressing that his country “will not be able to bear” this at all.

The spokesman said, “The presence of espionage bases belonging to the Zionist entity is another important point, as we will never allow the establishment of bases for this entity near our borders and the disputed area in which there are ongoing clashes”.

The spokesman pointed out that in the event of such a matter (the presence of Israeli bases), “its repercussions will be on the shoulders of the state that allows the presence of takfiris and Zionist mercenaries,” stressing his country’s determination to confront these two phenomena.
