The Iranian and Syrian Foreign Ministers inaugurate the new building of the Iranian Consulate in Damascus

On Monday, during his visit to Damascus, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Syrian counterpart Faisal al Miqdad opened the new Iranian consulate building, days after the old building was destroyed as a result of being targeted by an Israeli bombing.

The new building of the Iranian Consulate was opened within a building close to the Iranian Embassy, ​​and is located meters away from the old Consulate, separated by the Canadian Embassy building at al Mazzeh area in Damascus.

The Iranian and Syrian ministers visited the site of the Iranian consulate that was destroyed by the Israeli attack at the beginning of this month.

During their press conference, the Iranian Foreign Minister and his Syrian counterpart, said that “Syria is considered a front line in the resistance against the Zionist entity”.

For his part, Faisal al Miqdad said, “From here from Damascus I say: The Zionist entity must be punished for the crime it committed in the Iranian consulate in Damascus”.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said, “Washington gave the green light to Israel to commit this aggression and it must bear responsibility”.

He continued, “The crimes against humanity committed by the Israeli occupation in Gaza are carried out with the support of Washington”.

The Syrian Foreign Minister stated that “the Israeli aggression against the Iranian consulate is a violation of international laws and all the values ​​on which humanity was founded”, adding that “Israel doesn’t want peace; It doesn’t want a two-state solution… It wants everything and is working on this basis… It only wants to kill innocent Palestinian people on the way to expanding to other Arab countries”.
