The Guardian: Biden must save Israel from Netanyahu
The Guardian, published an article by Jonathan Friedland, talks about the awkward situation which the US administration is facing, due to its position towards the Israeli government and the Israeli prime minister.
According to the article, there is one way out of the Gaza war, and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is obstructing it, so US President Joe Biden must force Netanyahu to step down from power.
Friedland explained in his article that Netanyahu opposes the only viable path forward, which is the two-state solution, and is now working only in his personal interest, and the US president must save Israel from its current prime minister.
Biden’s relationship with Israel is very deep, and he has demonstrated this on many occasions and in the current crisis, adding that he must perform one last act of service to Israel, a task that he can uniquely carry out by expelling Netanyahu from power and doing everything in his power to ensure that he doesn’t return.
Friedland continued, that Netanyahu believes that standing up to Washington makes him win over Israeli voters, and that the only acceptable options for the Gaza Strip are rule by a coalition of Arab countries – which don’t want that and will certainly reject it without Palestinian participation – or re-occupying it.
One of the two options isn’t applicable, and the other is unacceptable.
Friedland went on to say that the essence of the issue is that Israel is currently led by a man who is fighting only for himself, and Biden has the ability to influence events in Israel, and he may be the only person in the world who can save Israel from Netanyahu, and he must do it.
