The former head of British intelligence warns Israel of a trap being set for in case they invade Gaza
Alex Younger, the former head of British intelligence, reported that Hamas had set a trap for Israel in the event that Israel launched a ground attack on the Gaza Strip.
Israeli sources indicated that the state was preparing for a ground operation in the Gaza Strip after days of heavy bombing that targeted the entire area, resulting in many casualties and the destruction of many residential buildings and infrastructure.
According to the Business Insider newspaper, Alex Younger indicated during an interview on BBC that Hamas is trying to provoke Israel to launch a ground attack on Gaza, and Israel warned that this attack will have a major impact on the number of casualties and will lead to an increase in extremism.
Younger, who served as head of the UK’s Foreign Intelligence Service from 2014 to 2020, explained that “now it’s clear that Hamas is planning to set a trap for Israel”.
He added, “It will be clear that Hamas will be happy with a large ground invasion in Gaza”.
It’s also noteworthy that the United Nations announced that more than 423,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes in the Gaza Strip as a result of violent Israeli attacks during recent days.
The military spokesman of al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, Abu Ubaida, indicated that the resistance still has a lot in the coming hours and days and that the concept of immigration doesn’t exist in the resistance’s plans.
This is in response to rumors and statements revolving around the transfer of Gaza residents to the Egyptian Sinai.
According to Palestinian sources, some problems hinder the success of any Israeli ground attack on Gaza and its delay due to the Israeli mobilization.
Information confirmed that matters behind enemy lines further complicate and delay potential ground operations, and some forces remain at least 20 kilometers from Gaza and settlements.
