The family of the former spokesman for the Syrian opposition  Jaish al Islam in Eastern Ghouta, “Majdy Nehme,” known as “Islam Alloush,” revealed, in a statement, the details of his arrest in France a year and several months ago, speaking of his exposure to physical and psychological torture, and considered that what is happening against him “is not a trial that respects It includes the rights of the accused, but an attempt to criminalize everyone who takes up arms against the Syrian army and takes revenge on it.

According to what was stated in the family’s statement, they affirmed their commitment to silence, in their confidence in the innocence of Islam since his arrest a year and three months ago in France, confirming that they support and hope that the truth about what happened in the case for whom he was arrested, which is related to the kidnapping of the human rights activist “Razan Zaitouneh and her companions,” will be revealed.

The family’s statement said: “And because we did not believe and did not expect that the prosecutor (which claims to be active in human rights and for the sake of its maintenance) would accept the violation of Majdi’s rights and agree to torture him physically and psychologically.

We also did not expect the prosecution to base its allegations on fallacies and rumors.

A need to remind them that the accused is innocent until proven guilty.

The statement pointed out that the information that will be disclosed did not know about it until after 10 months, “during which Majdy was forcibly disappeared and during which he was prevented from communicating with his family, and during that time he was subjected to physical and psychological torture,” and expressed shock that “international human rights institutions agreed to forcibly hide Majdy.

And even contributed to that,” as no one of the family members was able to travel to France to communicate with Majdy and check on him because they do not have a travel visa to France.

The statement added that Majdy traveled to France at the end of 2019 after receiving a scholarship to conduct research on the armed movement in Syria.

The family explained that Majdy, before his return to Turkey, was arrested by “an armed force in civilian clothes that dealt very brutally with Majdy and tortured him in the most horrific ways that almost cost his life.

Majdy was severely bruised all over his body and the police officers in the prison were unable to when Majdy arrived.

And its extension to include everyone who has taken up arms against the Syrian army.

The family considered that the lawsuit against Majdy was “malicious and not a pursuit of the truth, but rather an attempt to heal and revenge,” because it is based on testimonies against Magdy, which the family reviewed, and which are based only on social networking sites and rumors that he does not believe in a reasonable person.

The family held the French government and the prosecutor responsible for “the assault and torture of Majdy,” and called on human rights organizations to take a “serious stance on the flagrant human rights violations that occurred against Majdy”.

The arrest of the official spokesman for the “Jaish al islam” Majdy Nehme, known as “Islam Alloush” in France, opened the door to the possibility of uncovering clues leading to the disclosure of the fate of the human rights activists who disappeared in Eastern Ghouta six years ago in an area under the control of the “Jaish al Islam” accused of Several Syrian organizations kidnapped “Razan Zaitouneh” and her companions.

The Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression previously mentioned that Alloush was arrested in France on charges of committing war crimes, pointing to his arrest on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, after several reports indicating his involvement in war crimes in Eastern Ghouta.

And after the “Jaish al Islam” in a statement on the incident, it is certain that the lawsuits filed by human rights organizations against the army for “discrediting and insulting the Syrian revolution factions to form pressure papers on it to accept the solutions imposed on us by countries under the sword of international classification”.

Regarding the arrest of “Majdy Nehme,” the statement said that he was practicing a media mission assigned to him by issuing statements and statements decided by the army leadership, and that he had left Ghouta since 2013 and went to reside in Turkey.

He left work with the Jaish al Islam since 2017 and no longer has any organizational relationship.
