The emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, received a written message from Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al Saud, which includes an invitation to attend the 39th summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit to be held on December 9.

The Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council, Abdul Latif Al Zayani, delivered the message during his visit to Doha on Tuesday, where he was received by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

This is the first letter from King Salman to the Emir of Qatar since the beginning of the Gulf crisis in June 2017.

Zayani’s visit is the first since Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Manama and Cairo announced the boycott of Doha and imposed an air, sea and land blockade.
