The disappearance of the head of Interpol!

An investigation has been opened in France over the head of Interpol, headquartered in Lyon, in central France, whose family has lost its impact since he left for China at the end of September, a source close to the file, told AFP.
The source added that Hongwei’s wife informed the French authorities of her husband’s disappearance, expressing concern, confirming information provided by Radio Europe 1.
“He did not lose his influence in France”, the source told AFP, adding that he left France on September 29.
The International Police Organization (Interpol) said in a statement Friday that it was aware of the reports of “alleged disappearance” of the organization’s president, Meng Hongwei, adding that the case was a matter for the relevant authorities in France and China.
“This is a matter for the relevant authorities in France and China”, the statement issued by the Interpol Information Office said, adding that the organization’s secretary-general, not Ming, was in charge of managing its daily affairs.
For many years, Beijing has tried to push foreign countries to help them arrest and deport Chinese citizens they accuse of crimes including corruption and terrorism.
Prior to his election as Interpol president in November 2016, Ming was deputy secretary of public security in China.
He was the first Chinese to be elected president of INTERPOL, the international criminal police organization that links law enforcement agencies among the 192 member states.
The Ming term expires in 2020.
