The details of the prisoner exchange deal and the truce in Gaza

At dawn on Wednesday, Hamas issued a detailed statement about the truce agreement it reached with Israel.

Within the statement, Hamas announced the achievement of a ceasefire agreement and a temporary humanitarian truce extending for four days, thanks to the joint efforts of Qatari and Egyptian mediation.

The main points included in the Hamas statement were as follows:

  1. A ceasefire from both sides, with the cessation of all military activities of the Israeli army in all areas of the Gaza Strip, including the cessation of the movement of its military vehicles in the Gaza Strip.
  2. Entering humanitarian, relief, medical and fuel aid through hundreds of trucks to all areas of the Gaza Strip without exception, whether in the north or south.
  3. The release of 50 detainees in Gaza, including women and children under the age of 19, in exchange for the release of 150 Palestinian women and children under the age of 19 from Israeli prisons according to release priorities.
  4. Suspending air traffic in the southern region for four days, and reducing air traffic in the northern region for 6 hours daily from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, local time.
  5. Israel’s commitment not to attack or arrest any person in all areas of the Gaza Strip during the truce period.
  6. Ensuring the freedom of movement of individuals along Salah al Din Street from north to south.

In a related context, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed today that the government voted in favor of the proposed agreement to release a number of detainees in Gaza, with an emphasis on the release of 50 women and children during the truce period.

The office also indicated Israel’s readiness to continue its military efforts against Hamas after the end of the truce period.
