Last Monday, Valery Zaloghny, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Forces, announced the death of his close aide Gennady Chastyakov in tragic circumstances.
Zaloghny reported that the cause of death was due to the explosion of an explosive device that was hidden inside a gift that Chastyakov received on the occasion of his birthday.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Zaloghny said, “Today, under tragic circumstances and on the occasion of his birthday, we lost our sincere assistant and friend, Gennady Chastyakov, as a result of the explosion of an explosive device that was hidden in one of the gifts. Chastyakov left behind his wife and four children… We extend our deepest condolences to his family at this difficult time”.
He pointed out that the judicial investigation will determine the exact causes and circumstances of the accident.
