The Ansar Allah group claims responsibility for a fourth attack on a US aircraft carrier in the red sea using cruise missiles and an explosive-laden drone
The Yemeni Ansar Allah group (Houthis) announced early Wednesday that it had launched cruise missiles and explosive-laden drones toward a US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea, the fourth such attack claimed within 72 hours, in response to US military strikes targeting it.
The group’s spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a statement that his forces had detected hostile military movements in the Red Sea in preparation for launching a large-scale attack on our country.
He added that the group “in response launched a number of cruise missiles and drones targeting the US aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and a number of enemy warships, thwarting and foiling the attack”.
Saree confirmed that “this targeting of the American aircraft carrier is the fourth within 72 hours”.
The Ansar Allah announcement of this fourth attack came after their media outlets reported that the United States had launched new airstrikes on areas under their control on Tuesday night.
This US airstrike came shortly after the group launched a missile towards Israel, which was successfully intercepted by its air defenses before it could enter its airspace, according to the Israeli military.
This was the first missile attack targeting Israel from Yemen since the truce between Israel and Hamas in Gaza began on January 19.
This escalation occurred after a series of intensive Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip.
Since the end of last week, Washington has been waging an air campaign against the Houthis, which resulted in the deaths of 53 people and the injury of 98 others on Saturday, according to the group, which said it responded by targeting a US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea several times.
