The American-Israeli hostage who was released in Gaza wrote a letter thanking Hamas and blaming the Israeli government for making less effort to release him
The al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, published a letter by the American-Israeli hostage Keith Segal – who was released, Saturday, in the fourth batch of the prisoner exchange deal – in which he talks about the conditions of his detention in the Gaza Strip.
Segal, (65) wrote that the al Qassam fighters who guarded him throughout his detention were keen to meet all his needs of food, drink, medicine and vitamins.
Segal, who holds both Israeli and US citizenship, said that the al Qassam fighters brought him a doctor when he felt unwell.
He pointed out that the guards “were keen to bring food that suited my health condition, vegetarian food and without oil”.
Segal thanked the al Qassam fighters for taking care of him throughout his captivity since October 7, 2023.
On the other hand, he accused the Israeli government for not doing what was required of it to reach a deal to return the prisoners and end the war, which led to many victims and additional harm to both sides.
On Saturday, the al Qassam posted a of Segal before his release, in which he thanked Hamas fighters in Arabic.
On January 19, the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between Hamas and Israel entered into force in its first phase, which lasts for 6 weeks.
