The al Qassam Brigades publishes a photo of an Israeli soldier that they keeping his body after he was captured during an ambush in Jabaliya
The al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, revealed on Saturday a photo of the body of an Israeli soldier captured during an ambush in the Jabaliya area in the northern Gaza Strip about a week ago.
Accompanied by footage broadcast by the Qassam Brigades of the operation carried out against an Israeli force, they wrote details about the operation, and at the end of the video they said, “A member of the targeted force, a body in our grasp (attached to a photo of him), you know his identity very well”.
They added, “Why are you lying to your audience, is it one of the mercenaries you have not announced since October 7, 2023? Or is your racism even present in the distinction between your dead?”
“You are invited to identify this soldier and the rest of the force who were killed, wounded and captured”.
Regarding the details of the operation against the Israeli army, al Qassam explained that it took place on May 25, in Jabaliya, after its fighters lured the occupation soldiers to one of the tunnels.
They added that the Israeli military had inserted “a drone into the eye of the tunnel (tunnel opening) to explore it,” and was unable to spot its fighters inside.
As soon as they emerged from the tunnel, its fighters advanced to “the place of the ambush, according to the previously agreed plan”, they said.
“When enemy soldiers arrived at the ambush area inside the tunnel,” our fighters clashed with them from a Zero distance, attacked two soldiers and blew up the tunnel eye,” al Qassam said.
“After that, the enemy dug the area around the tunnel to its path,” they said, thinking their fighters had withdrawn from inside.
The al Qassam continued that contrary to the expectations of the Israeli army, their fighters inside the tunnel, planted a number of camouflaged devices inside it.
They explained that Israeli forces inserted a support force into the tunnel, and after it passed one of the devices and was in the range of fire from Qassam fighters, “they shot at it from zero distance and detonated the device with them”.
The al Qassam said that their fighters then blew up the tunnel after withdrawing from it.
It confirmed that the operation killed the soldiers of the Israeli force between death, wounding and prisoner, and its fighters seized the equipment of a number of soldiers.
In a letter to the families of those killed and captured Israelis in Gaza, al Qassam said, “Don’t believe your government or army”.
This was the first capture of Israeli soldiers announced by the resistance factions since Israel began its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army denied at the time that there had been any capture of their soldiers in Gaza.
On Friday, the Israeli army announced in a statement the end of its military operation in Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip, which lasted 20 days, during which 10 soldiers were killed.
