Syrian transitional President warns against harming civilians in Syria during the tightened security operations and confirms the handing over of regime remnants to a fair trial
Syrian transitional President Ahmed al Sharaa vowed on Friday evening to hand over former regime forces who insist on attacking the people to a fair trial.
In a televised speech about the recent events on the Syrian coast, al Sharaa warned that any violation against civilians during the pursuit of regime forces will be met with severe punishment.
At the beginning of his speech, al Sharaa said, “Some remnants of the regime sought to test the new Syria that they don’t know”.
He added, “Here they are, the ones who were left behind by the regime, recognizing it today… They see it as one unified country from east to west and from north to south… If one of its governorates is touched by a thorn, all the other governorates will rally to support it and honor it”.
The Syrian President stressed that “in Syria today, there is no difference between the authority and the people… It concerns everyone, and its everyone’s mission to preserve and support it, and this was embodied last night”.
He stressed that “there is no fear for a country with such people and such a spirit”.
Addressing the forces of the former regime, al Sharaa said, “In the liberation battle, we fought you as one who is keen on your lives, despite your keenness on our deaths… We’re a people who want to reform the country that you destroyed, and we have no interest in anyone’s blood”.
He added, “We’re a people who fight with the honor of fighting in our hearts, and you fight without honor… What you have done isn’t strange to you… You have shed Syrian blood for decades and you are still following the same approach, despite our preference for amnesty to avoid falling into such a scene”.
He continued, “I am certain that you are ignorant of what we are saying, but the Messenger’s only duty is to convey the message,” he said.
He continued his speech, “With your heinous act of killing those who protect Syria and stay up to serve it, storming hospitals and terrorizing the safe, you have attacked all Syrians”.
He added, “By doing so, you have committed a great and unforgivable sin, and you have received a response that you cannot bear, so hasten to surrender your weapons and yourselves before it’s too late”.
Al Sharaa addressed the Syrian people, saying, “Oh Syrians, the world has seen your eagerness for your country, your love for it, and your sense of belonging to it… This is what befits you and your origins, for without this love, homelands cannot be built”.
He congratulated the army and security forces for their commitment to protecting and securing civilians while pursuing the remnants of the fallen regime and their speed in performance.
He stressed to them not to allow anyone to overreact or overreact, and to work to prevent that.
Al Sharaa continued, addressing the army and security forces: “I remind you that God has made the status of the prisoner the same as that of the orphan and the poor… He has placed him in a position of kindness and compassion… The prisoner shouldn’t be humiliated or subjected to beating, as that is contrary to the command of God and then to the law of the country”.
He stressed that the authorities “will continue to pursue the remnants of the fallen regime who refuse to continue their oppression and tyranny, those who have committed crimes against the people, and those who seek to undermine security and civil peace”.
Al Sharaa added, “We’ll bring them before a fair court, and we will continue to restrict weapons to the state, and there will be no loose weapons in Syria, God willing, and anyone who attacks defenseless civilians and takes people for the sins of others will be held strictly accountable”.
On the other hand, the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced, on Friday evening, the failure of an attack by supporters of the former regime on the naval forces command in the coastal city of Latakia.
