Syrian Foreign Ministry: The UAE Embassy opens in Damascus on Thursday 12-27-2018
A source in the Syrian Foreign Ministry told “Sputnik” that the opening of the UAE embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus will be officially on Thursday afternoon.
The UAE embassy in Damascus is due to open officially Thursday, a Syrian Foreign Ministry source told Sputnik.
“The UAE embassy will officially open this afternoon”, the source said, without giving further details about who would attend the opening of the Syrian and UAE sides.
The Syrian government has welcomed any Arab move towards the return of embassies to the capital Damascus and activates its work again, and this comes after years of the closure of a number of embassies of Arab countries after the start of the Syrian war.
“We welcome any step in order to return all the Arab countries that have closed their embassies to work on the possibility of the return of the United Arab Emirates to open its embassy in Syria”, the Syrian daily Al Watan quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Al Miqdad as saying.
