Syria reveals the size of its losses in the oil and gas sectors as a result of the practices of the US occupation

Syria announced on Monday, that its losses in the oil and gas sectors, as a result of the practices of the US occupation, amounted to 107.1 billion dollars, during the period from 2011 to the middle of this year.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said, in two letters it sent to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council, that “the practices of the United States that are illegally presenting its forces on Syrian territory, as well as theft and illegal trafficking carried out by terrorist groups and the separatist SDF militia, have caused losses and destruction”.

Major in the extraction, supply, distribution and investment of oil, gas and mineral wealth since 2011, where direct and indirect losses until the middle of this year amounted to 107.1 billion dollars.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry added: “According to the figures of the Syrian Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources and its accurate statistics, the direct losses to which this main vital sector is exposed amounted to $24.2 billion as a result of the thefts of oil, gas and mineral wealth that were committed, and still are, by terrorist groups and the separatist SDF militia, which are spreading In northeastern Syria under the auspices, protection and support of the US forces, which are in Syria illegally”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry continued in two letters that “the estimated value of these losses resulting from extraction, smuggling, and illegal trade in Syrian oil, gas and mineral resources, amounted to $18.2 billion until the end of the first half of this year, and the SDF continues to steal and smuggle Syrian oil, gas and mineral wealth, and illegal trade.

The project is under the cover and protection of the US forces, which are in Syria illegally”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry indicated that “these losses are also caused by the sabotage and theft of facilities for the extraction and transportation of Syrian oil, gas and mineral resources by terrorist groups… The illegal attack on the Syrian oil and gas facilities”.

According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, the estimated value of the losses resulting from these acts of aggression “has reached 2.8 billion dollars, while the estimated value of indirect losses until the middle of this year amounted to 82.9 billion dollars”.

These values ​​represent “the values ​​of missing and wasting Syria’s production of crude oil, natural gas, domestic gas, various oil derivatives and mineral wealth, due to the decrease in production from the expected and planned rates within the framework of normal working conditions as a result of the crimes of sabotage, destruction, theft and illegal trade that it has committed and perpetrated”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry added, “According to the listed numbers and statistics, the estimated total value of the losses of the oil, gas and mineral wealth sector in Syria until the middle of this year is $107.1 billion,” stressing that “Syria reserves its right to take legal measures stipulated by international law and the Charter of the United Nations from order to claim compensation for the direct and indirect losses suffered by the oil, gas and mineral wealth sectors”.

In accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, the governments of countries whose armed forces participate in the ranks of the so-called illegal international coalition, led by the United States, and who were involved in the acts of aggression committed by this coalition, bear full legal, moral and financial responsibilities for direct and indirect losses”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry stressed that “Syria is still facing to this day serious negative repercussions and effects resulting from the control of the US occupation forces over the natural and energy resources in Syria, in parallel with Washington’s exploitation, damage, waste, depletion and endangerment of the Syrian natural resources, and as a result depriving the Syrian people of investment.

And benefit from these natural resources and their revenues, at a time when Syria is already suffering from a severe shortage of energy supplies”.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry called for “the need for the United Nations General Secretariat and the Security Council to develop a serious and practical approach in dealing with the situation in Syria, based on an impartial and independent conviction that the implementation of relevant United Nations resolutions cannot be achieved with the continued control of the United States and its separatist militias over Syria’s oil, gas and mineral resources, nor with the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by the United States, the European Union and some other countries on the country”.

The ministry called on the United Nations Secretariat and the Security Council to study the contents of these two messages, and to adopt them as an official document of the General Assembly, according to the provisional agenda of the 77th regular session, and to deal with the humanitarian and economic situation in Syria with more seriousness and efficiency, especially in light of what was stated in the Security Council Resolution 2642 regarding the imperative to expand humanitarian activities in Syria, including early recovery projects aimed at providing water, sanitation, health care, education, shelter, and electricity, to restore access to basic services.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry stressed that “the time factor has become more decisive today, more than before, for the General Secretariat and the Security Council to work to put a final, irreversible end to the politicization of the humanitarian and economic situation in Syria, and to obstruct the return of Syrians to their normal lives, including the displaced and displaced, at the same time.
