Sputnik: Expectations of an imminent withdrawal of Turkey from NATO
The Russian news agency Sputnik, posted information obtained by a US intelligence center that says that Turkey will withdraw from NATO soon.
The US intelligence center, called “Gig”, said on Sunday evening that Turkey will withdraw from NATO in the next few months as a new Turkish strategy to leave the Western trend and get closer to Russia.
The Israeli channel 20 quoted on Sunday evening, that the center of the American consulting for intelligence, known as “Gig”, expects Turkey’s withdrawal from NATO soon, over several months, citing the tension of Turkish-US relations during the past few days.
The Israeli channel said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would go to Russia and the East and move away from the Western front, especially the US.
The American Advisory Center for Intelligence is formed by a group of American generals based in New York.
Turkish-American relations have been strained recently by a number of issues and files, most notably the American Rev. Andrew Brunson, who is detained by Turkey.
On August 10, US President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on imports of Turkish steel aluminum.
The US move came days after Washington imposed sanctions on the ministers of justice and interior, the Turks, on the pretext of not releasing the American Reverend Andrew Brunson, who has been accused of “spying and terrorism” since Turkey’s failed coup.
Erdogan responded that his country does not bow to threats, and is ready for all economic possibilities, stressing that the Trump move is detrimental to the interests of America itself.
