Several Ukrainian drones were targeted several areas in Russia with a missile depot was targeted in Krasnodar region
The Russian defense ministry said that more than 100 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russia and Crimea on Saturday, and a Ukrainian drone was reportedly targeted and destroyed in the Kursk region a day earlier.
An ammunition depot and missile arsenal in Russia’s Krasnodar region caught fire, prompting evacuations after the blaze caused a series of explosions.
The Russian Defense Ministry said its forces shot down the drones, while there were no reports of casualties as a result of the attack.
The broad Ukrainian offensive comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced ahead of his visit to the White House that what he described as Kyiv’s victory plan required rapid action from the United States.
Zelensky told reporters that the “victory plan” he will present to President Joe Biden will include long-range strike capabilities and other weapons that Kyiv has long sought, and will serve as the basis for any future negotiations with Russia.
He pointed out that the US reluctance so far to allow Ukraine to use Western weapons to strike deep inside Russia stems from fears of escalation by Moscow.
Kiev has been forced to use its own capabilities to strike inside Russian territory.
Zelensky pointed out that the longer Western partners wait to allow the use of long-range missiles, the lower their value will be.
Russian forces also attacked the Ukrainian cities of Kharkov and Dnipro on Friday evening. In Kharkov, a Su-34 aircraft was used to drop three guided aerial bombs from Belgorod, Kharkov regional prosecutor Oleksandr Velchakov said.
Velchakov said that an enemy bomb hit a house in the Kholodnogorsky district of the city.
Kharkov Mayor Igor Terekhov said the death toll had risen to 15.
In Dnipro, a missile attack destroyed several houses.
According to local residents, the blast wave damaged the roof of one house and shattered windows.
According to the regional military administration, a total of three high-rise buildings and 72 vehicles were damaged in the attack.
