Israeli Channel 13 reported that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against a military attack on Gaza, warning that the operation lacks a political end and puts hostages and soldiers at risk.

Channel 13 reported that Zamir delivered a secret memo directly to Netanyahu, stating that “IDF fighters are returning to the same positions without a political objective,” a day before Netanyahu’s scheduled meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington to discuss a US proposal to end the war.

Zamir explained that the operational measures put the hostages at risk, and their situation is deteriorating, emphasizing that every operation requires a political end, adding that there is no political end in Gaza City, and asserting that Israel refuses to find an alternative to Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

An Israeli military spokesperson confirmed the document’s existence, describing it as highly sensitive and confidential.

He explained that it was delivered directly to Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.

He declined to comment on its contents, while warning that leaking its contents to unauthorized parties constitutes a breach of state security.

The report sparked angry reactions from the families of soldiers in Gaza, who expressed their shock to Channel 13, saying they were horrified by what it contained.

They added, “According to the Chief of Staff himself, he is sending our sons to die and be injured for no purpose… The lives of our sons aren’t cheap,” stressing, “this is the time for the families of the fighters to stand up and stop this absurd war”.
