The People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria used the first pressure group in the US capital, Washington, in a move to pass its policy and support it, especially with the new US administration headed by Joe Biden.

The US “Foreign Lobby” website reported on Friday that Republican political activist Jim Dornan had registered his “Jim Dornan Strategies” company as an agent of the “People’s Protection Units”, as of April 30th.

The “People’s protection units” are the military pillar of the “Syria Democratic Forces” (SDF), and are accused of their direct association with the “Kurdistan Workers Party” (PKK).

The website added that this step would “contribute to increasing tension between the United States of America and Turkey, its NATO ally”.

He explained that the “Dornan” company was registered to put pressure on “US / YPG cooperation with regard to ISIS”.

Dornan is a longtime Republican political activist and former Congress employee.

The website specializing in “lobbying” continued: “He notably served as chief of staff for Senator Richard Burr (RN from North Carolina) when the latter served in the House of Representatives”.

The above comes at a time when the SDF is pressuring the Biden administration to remain involved in the fighting in northeastern Syria.

Former US President Donald Trump announced that the “Islamic State” had been defeated in Iraq and Syria in March 2019, but the “SDF” was still warning of its return.

Earlier this year, the leader of the “SDF”, Mazloum Abdi, had called on the administration of the US President, Joe Biden, to “activate US role and put an end to the Syrian Holocaust”.

He referred to meetings with officials from the International Coalition to Fight the “Islamic State”, which revealed “the existence of a tendency to expand operations against terrorism”.

The political wing of the “SDF” (the Syria Democratic Council – SDC) has strengthened its presence in the pressure groups in Washington, DC.

Last summer, he hired the Washington office for the “SDF”, according to “Furn Lobby”, a member of “a Kurdish pressure group, Ayal Frank”.

The website said, “The move at the time was for $ 6,000 a month, with the task of assisting in providing advice to work on communication strategies, preparing draft communications with the government and the media, and also arranging meetings and activities with the government and the media”.
