Satellites show Iranian alert to repel a possible strike
Recent commercial satellite images reveal that Iran has installed an advanced Ghadir radar system in West Azerbaijan Province, northwest of the country, over the past few months.
Reports issued by the Critical Threats Unit of the American Enterprise Institute indicate that this type of radar, known as phased-array technology, is considered an advanced system, providing superior detection capabilities for aircraft and missiles over long distances and covering a wide range of airspace.
In the same context, the commander of the Iranian Air Defense Forces, Major General Alireza Sabahi, stated that his forces are fully prepared and stand firm, threatening a harsh response to any potential provocation and emphasizing, “the enemy is well aware of the combat readiness of Iranian forces”.
This escalation comes amid growing tensions with the United States, as the administration of former US President Donald Trump continues to pressure Tehran, threatening military action unless Iran agrees to US conditions for renegotiating the nuclear agreement, which include the complete dismantling of its nuclear program.
In a significant diplomatic development, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced earlier Monday, that Moscow is currently hosting emergency consultations with representatives from Russia, China, and Iran in an attempt to contain the escalation surrounding the Iranian nuclear issue.
On March 30, several US media outlets reported direct threats from former US President Donald Trump, who threatened Iran with “unprecedented bombing” if it didn’t reach a new agreement with Washington regarding its nuclear activities.
It’s worth noting that the United States unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear agreement with Iran in May 2018 and re-imposed strict economic sanctions targeting Iranian government accounts, officials, and entities. In response, Tehran began to backtrack on some of its commitments under the agreement, a move that raised international concerns about the acceleration of its nuclear program.
In a separate report published in the past few hours, intelligence sources revealed the presence of underground facilities on Iran’s Qeshm Island, part of what they described as a secret expansion of defense and weapons capabilities.
This reinforces speculation about preparations for a potential confrontation amid escalating regional and international tensions.
