Russia’s Intelligence chief: Alternative options will be harder if Putin’s peace proposal is rejected
After Ukraine previously rejected the proposal or conditions offered by Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war that has been going on since February 2022, Russian intelligence entered the line.
Intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin has warned that if Putin’s proposal is rejected, alternative options will be harder.
Naryshkin, said on Monday that alternative proposals would be much more difficult.
However, he didn’t specify who he meant would reject the request, referring to Kiev, of course.
In a fiery speech last Friday, Putin offered his terms for a ceasefire and negotiation with Kiev, demanding the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, east and south of Ukraine, after his forces took control of parts of them.
He also conditioned the Ukrainian authorities on abandoning their ambitions and efforts to join NATO in order to start negotiations.
However, Zelensky considered these conditions an outright surrender rather than peace or negotiation, and insisted on restoring his country’s sovereignty over its territory.
The two-day Swiss summit on Ukraine, in its final statement on Sunday, called for the inclusion of all parties in any future peace talks.
