Russian television sets targets in the United States, which will be targeted by modern Russian missiles in case of confrontation

In unprecedented, surprise and unusual move in the Russian media, Russian state television “Russia 1” showed a list of US areas that Moscow might target in case of a nuclear strike, pointing out Russia’s use of its supersonic speed missile, which would be able to hit US targets in less than five minutes.
The shown targets included the Pentagon and the presidential retreat at Camp David in Maryland, beside other targets.
The report, which was broadcast on Russian television, was unusual even in sometimes hostile Russian standards on Sunday evening; days after Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to retaliate against any medium-range nuclear proliferation in Europe.
In a weekly show, hosted by Russian media personnel Dmitry Kiselyov, who present one of Russia’s main weekly news program “Vesti Nedely” (Lead of the week), presented a map of the United States with many targets, which Moscow said it wanted to hit if a nuclear war broke out.
Kiselyov a Journalist who is close to the Kremlin according to observers, described the targets as “military command centers or US presidential headquarters”, adding that more than five-minute rockets could reach those targets in less than five minutes if launched from Russian submarines.
“At the moment we don’t pose a threat to anyone, but if such a deployment is made, we will have an immediate response”, Kiselyov said.
When reports asked the Kremlin to give remarks on the show content, Monday, the official statement was “We don’t interfere in the editorial policy of the media”.
The Russian president had said a few days ago at the State of the Union speech that the Russian army will not only target countries that deploy medium-range nuclear missiles, but the United States itself.
Putin’s threats came after the United States withdrew from the 1987 Intermediate Nuclear Weapons Treaty on what it said were Russian violations, while Moscow denied the US allegations.
While the Russian president has vowed to deploy nuclear missiles at supersonic speed aboard submarines near US territorial waters, if Washington “foolishly” committed any act of aggression against Russia.
In their respond, US officials said there was currently no order to deploy such missiles in Europe, describing Putin’s warnings as a “Propaganda aimed at deceit”.
