Russian forces advancing in Bakhmut and Seversk
Russian forces continue to advance in Donetsk region at the expense of Ukrainian forces, as they managed in the past hours to control more streets in the city of Bakhmut, and they also made progress towards the city of Seversk, to the northeast of Bakhmut.
The commander of the Chechen Special Forces (Akhmat), that are associated with the Russian army, and the deputy commander of the Second Corps of the Lugansk Forces, Apti Alaeddinov, stated on Wednesday, that the Russian units are advancing in Bakhmut, indicating that they have managed to control many of its streets.
Alaeddinov said: “The Wagner forces, and the units of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which are working to surround Artyomovsk (Bakhmut), are carrying out military operations with great success, and they have already advanced in the city itself, and besieged it from the right side, and many streets have already been controlled”.
Alaeddinov added that there is progress in the direction of the highway leading to the city of Konstantinovka, located to the west of Bakhmut.
The day before, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had announced successful military operations in the Bakhmut and Uglidar regions.
And to the north of Bakhmut, the local official in Donetsk, Denis Pushilin, announced on Tuesday that the Russian forces are achieving an important success near the city of Seversk.
“Now, this trend is very important in connection with the subsequent liberation of Krasnye Leman, of course, Seversk, and there are some successes for the Wagner group in Seversk direction,” Pushilin said.
Pushilin added that Russian forces are advancing along the entire front line in Donetsk.
The Ukrainian armed forces lost more than 100 soldiers and at least 7 pieces of equipment in this region.
On Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced neutralizing more than 300 Ukrainian soldiers during the past 24 hours in a number of areas on the battle front.
In its daily summary of the conduct of combat operations within the framework of the Russian military operation for Ukraine, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that its forces managed, through offensive strikes, army aviation and artillery from the Western group of forces, to hit the concentration points of personnel and military equipment of the units of the 14th and 92nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian forces in Kobyansk direction, Kharkiv and Lugansk region.
It indicated that more than 35 Ukrainian soldiers were eliminated in this direction, in addition to the liquidation of more than 130 Ukrainian soldiers by bombing gatherings of personnel and military equipment belonging to the 66th Mechanized Brigade, the 25th Airborne Brigade, and the 81st Air Brigade in Lugansk and Donetsk.
It added that more than 140 Ukrainian soldiers were also killed, a tank, 3 pickup trucks, 3 cars, and a Msta-B howitzer were destroyed in the direction of Donetsk, in addition to the killing of 75 Ukrainian soldiers in the bombing of units of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, the 1st Tank Brigade, and the 35th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the towns of Oglidar and Vodianoye in Donetsk region.
