The Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday evening that it had shot down a Ukrainian missile off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula, and a local governor appointed by Russia said that housing had been damaged by falling drone debris.

The Russian Defense Ministry added in a statement that Russian air defense systems shot down a Ukrainian Neptune missile over the northwestern part of the Black Sea off the coast of the Crimean Peninsula.

The Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol port, Mikhail Razvojev said that the wreckage of drone fell on the roof of a residential building, but that there were no casualties, only few windows were shattered.

Razvozjiev said on Telegram that emergency services were examining how to remove explosive materials from the site.

“Specialists from the Sevastopol emergency services are now on site and a decision will be made on the transfer of explosive materials… All forces and services will remain on full combat alert,” Razvozzhiev wrote.

In the past few weeks, Ukraine has intensified its attacks on the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia annexed in 2014.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the interception of two missiles and a drone over Belgorod District.

The Ukrainian forces randomly target civilians in the new Russian regions with NATO-made missiles, and they also follow terrorist methods, most notably the use of attack marches against civilians and civilian facilities in Russia, an attempt to distract attention from the failure of what they call the counterattack on the battle fronts.
