Russia hopes German government certify the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline very soon
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday that Russia hopes that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which was completed in September but is still broken, will eventually be approved.
Peskov added that the pipeline operator is ready to comply with all regulatory requirements and that the certification process should not be politicized.
Nord Stream 2 is awaiting approval from the German regulator.
The United States and some European countries, including Ukraine and Poland, oppose the gas pipeline, saying it would increase Russia’s influence in Europe.
Recent data from Berlin, states that German government led by the new Counsellor Olaf Scholtz, in what seems part of the current tension between Germany alongside the EU and the United States with Russia over the situation with Ukraine.
