Russia expels the military attaché at the British embassy in Moscow
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed today that a person working in the military section of the British Embassy in Moscow has become “persona non grata” in Russia and must leave the country.
The Russian Foreign Ministry explained in its statement that the British diplomat was informed that Russia must leave within a week, in response to the action taken by Britain to expel the Russian military attaché from London on the eighth of May.
The statement pointed out that this decision comes as part of its reaction to the unfriendly moves from the British side, considering that the crisis in Russian-British relations is witnessing a difficult and deep period that cannot be easily overcome.
In a previous statement, Sergey Belyaev, director of the second European department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, stressed that London seeks to end trade and economic cooperation with Russia, and that it’s very difficult to improve relations between the two countries at the moment, due to the policies pursued by the British government, which seeks to destroy bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
