Russia commented and denies reports in the Israeli press about the transfer the remains of the Israeli spy Eli Cohen from Syria to Israel by Russian officials
The Russian Foreign Ministry denied the reports that Israeli officials had transferred the remains of Mossad agent Eli Cohen to Syria.
A statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, posted on its website, said on Wednesday night: “We refute the fabrications of some Israeli media claiming that Russian officials transferred the remains of the Israeli intelligence agent (Mossad) Eli Cohen, who was executed in Damascus in 1965, out of Syria”.
“We don’t understand the motives of those who publish this misleading information and what is behind it, and we call on Israeli partners, including journalists, to be accurate, professional and impartial in dealing with such sensitive issues”, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also stressed that those responsible for such provocation would bear full responsibility for its consequences.
Israeli media have reported in recent days that Russian experts have recovered the remains of the famous Israeli spy Eli Cohen in Syria and secretly transported it abroad to Israel.
