A source in the German government said that approvals for the export of German weapons to Israel rose about 10 times this year compared to last year, reaching a value of about $323 million as of November 2, 2023, up from only 32 million Euros in 2022.

The source indicated that Berlin has begun to treat requests for arms exports from Israel as a priority, since the surprise attack carried out by the Hamas movement on October 7 last year on Israel.

Despite the increase in arms exports to Israel, they represent a small share of Germany’s total exports of military equipment, which amounted to 8.76 billion Euros during the first nine months of 2023.

Figures published by the German News Agency show that Berlin primarily supplies Israel with air defense system components and communications equipment.
