Putin: Russia is working to support Arab normalization with the Syrian President
The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, stressed, in statements he made on Thursday, that Russian diplomacy should continue to strengthen and support the political track for a settlement in Syria.
“With our direct participation, we were able to cut off international terrorism in Syria and prevent the disintegration of Syria”, Putin said during an expanded meeting with members of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The Russian president added: “Then, within the framework of the Astana formula, and in cooperation with Turkey and Iran, we launched the process of settlement between the Syrians under the auspices of the United Nations”.
The Russian president stressed that “Russian diplomacy should continue to contribute to the normalization of relations between Syria and the Arab countries”.
Putin emphasized that: “Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, intends to continue resolutely defending the fundamental principles enshrined in the UN Charter; Noting that the idea of holding a summit of members of the UN Security Council is being pursued.
