Politico: Trump is avoiding making contact with Ukrainian officials
Politico indicated that Ukrainian officials failed to arrange contact with former US President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, who avoid communicating with Ukrainian officials.
Politico quoted an unnamed source close to the Ukrainian presidency, “There is no stable contact between Ukrainian officials and the Trump and Johnson teams… The absence of this interaction seems deliberate, but the situation may change we hope after the elections… In short, as I understand it, Ukraine is trying, and Trump and Johnson are avoiding it”.
Former US President and US presidential candidate Donald Trump has stated more than once that, if he wins the elections, he intends to achieve a settlement of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Trump’s statement, saying that the Ukrainian crisis is a very difficult issue for such a simple solution.
On Thursday, US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson refused to guarantee Congress’ approval to provide additional aid to Ukraine, adding that the status quo regarding this problem is unacceptable.
