Modern Diplomat: Hamas and Russia have won the geopolitical wars and the West will pay the price for its losses
The Modern Diplomacy website discussed the fact that the West is losing to its competitors over time, and this is a reality that the United States and Europe face more than ever.
The Modern Diplomacy website cited the ongoing war in Gaza and the war in Ukraine, which represent a nightmare for the West, due to the victory of Russia and Hamas in geopolitical wars.
The Modern Diplomacy website explained, “The situation is stagnant and deteriorating in Ukraine, and this is due to the relentless war”.
“War fatigue for the West has led to aid to Kiev being hampered, and at times halted, while the re-election of former US President Donald Trump looms as a frightening prospect in Ukraine, casting doubt on NATO’s continued support for its partners,” the Modern Diplomacy website added.
As a result, “Ukraine is drifting away from its goal of restoring its sovereignty over the territories occupied by Russia”.
Moscow is getting closer to its goal of securing the territories it has controlled.
“This outcome undermines the credibility of NATO and Europe, their ability to protect their allies, and reduces their influence in Eastern Europe to an all-time low”.
Regarding the war in Gaza, “The war isn’t going well for Israel and its Western allies… Israel’s ground and tunnel operations will take a long time, while Biden and European leaders, for electoral and geopolitical normative reasons, want to end the war and broker a ceasefire”.
On the other hand, “the prolonged war in Gaza, and the blatant and reckless violations committed by Israel of international humanitarian laws, would increase the pressure exerted by international public opinion, especially in the global South and Islamic communities in the United States and Europe, to force them to stop the Shed blood as soon as possible”.
The Modern Diplomacy website stressed that Israel’s violations reveal the double standards that the West uses towards Ukraine and Palestine, and this makes the West lose its alleged normative and value credibility in the eyes of many parts of the world, especially the Arab world”.
At the same time, “the passage of time benefits Russia and Hamas,” and any result that proves their declaration of victory “will undermine the West’s credibility and weaken its standards, in addition to reducing its influence in the two vital geopolitical regions of Eastern Europe and the Middle East”.
The Modern Diplomacy website confirmed that “if the current trend continues, the year 2024 will be the year in which the West, especially Europe, will pay the price for its losses”.
“Europe’s nightmare, which it’s experiencing because of American hegemony, becomes more real every day,” explaining that Europe is suffering, in general, from the consequences of US hegemonic ambitions and its dependence on Washington.
This matter will have a higher price this time than ever before, and will lead to the erosion of Europe’s reputation and influence in many parts of the world, and even within its continent.
Finally, “The shift in the US strategy towards Russia and China, from deterrence and military balance to containment and weakening, not only undermined Western deterrence, but also failed to contain Russia and China”.
Anything less than the victory of Ukraine and the destruction of Hamas will mean the defeat of the West in its geopolitical struggle with Russia and China, a struggle that the West appears to have already lost on both the normative and narrative fronts.
