Niger plans to build new oil refinery by end of 2025
Niger Oil Minister Barki Baku Maman Mustafa said his country will start building a new oil refinery and petrochemical complex in the southwestern region of Dosso by the end of 2025.
Mustafa added at the launch of the work of the technical committee in charge of tracking the operations of the project, that the Dosso refinery will produce at least 100,000 barrels per day, stressing that “it will be built in a prototype way”.
The 22-member technical committee will be responsible, in particular, for preparing expressions of interest and analyzing proposals for technical and financial proposals for the project.
Niger Oil Minister noted that strategic partners have yet to be selected and work has begun scheduled for the end of December next year.
Niger is seeking to develop its oil sector infrastructure in order to increase its current production 5-fold and move from 20,000 barrels to 100,000 barrels per day, which will qualify it to occupy an important position among the oil-producing and exporting countries.
