New York Times: Israel Postponed the launch of the ground operation against Gaza due to bad weather
The New York Times, citing sources in the Israeli army, revealed that the ground operation had been postponed for a few days due to bad weather conditions that could hinder support for the forces due to the difficulty of flying drones.
The Israeli army shared unclassified details of the plan for the operation in the Gaza Strip, with the intention to use soldiers to seize control of the city and remove the current government.
This is expected to be Israel’s largest ground offensive since 2006, and will involve taking control of territory for a short period, a risky move given the densely populated environment in Gaza.
Hamas fighters may be inside tunnels and underground bunkers in Gaza, and Hamas may attempt to impede the Israeli army’s advance by blowing up tunnels and planting bombs on roads and in buildings.
The rules of engagement for soldiers have been relaxed to facilitate their work without providing additional details.
