Netanyahu’s security searches the belongings of the Israeli Chief of Staff to ensure that there is no recording device before he enters the cabinet meeting
Israeli media reported on Tuesday that security in the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu requested, at the entrance to the war cabin, to search the belongings of the Israeli Chief of Staff, Herzi Halevy, to ensure that there was no recording device.
Channel 13 spoke about a very exceptional incident that occurred yesterday in the war cabin, noting that “At the entrance to the war cabin, Halevy tried to enter the hall, and then a security guard from the Prime Minister’s Office asked to search the chief of staff’s belongings, to ensure that there was no recording device”.
According to Channel 13, the meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Security in Tel Aviv, and Halevy didn’t like this procedure and entered, and in the room, he went to those present, including the military secretary to the prime minister, and expressed his anger.
According to Channel 13 correspondent, “This joins what we published a month and a half ago regarding female workers in the Prime Minister’s Office examining officers who participated in the war cabin, and asked to ensure that they did not have a recording device with them”.
He added, “Parties in the Prime Minister’s Office said that the security guard did not receive any instructions, and she asked to ensure that everyone who enters the war cabin hall doesn’t carry electronic devices”.
In turn, the political affairs analyst at Channel 13, Raviv Drucker, stated that “if there is among the ten million people who live in Israel, one person would believe that a simple and ordinary female security guard went to the Chief of Staff of Israel during a time of war, and asked to check whether he was carrying… A recording device and she did it on her own initiative. He deserves the Nobel Peace Prize”.
Drucker stressed, “This is a frightening matter and there are no other words to say, and if we add this to what was published about the Minister of Security being stopped on his way to the Prime Minister’s office to conduct very sensitive consultations, then this is undoubtedly an atmosphere of madness,” adding, “I don’t know if this person (Netanyahu) is qualified to manage issues, while his chief of staff and his security minister are suspected of recording what he says”.
