Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continued his country’s pressure on Britain on Tuesday evening to back down from its threat to recognize the state of Palestine during the UN General Assembly meetings next September.

At a press conference on Tuesday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that his country would recognize the State of Palestine next September if Israel didn’t take substantive steps to end the horrific situation in the Gaza Strip.

The British decision was met with strong criticism from the Israeli Foreign Ministry, and Netanyahu subsequently claimed in an English-language blog post on X that Starmer is rewarding Hamas’s terrorism and punishing its victims.

He continued his allegations, “A jihadist state (a Palestinian state) on Israel’s borders today will threaten Britain tomorrow… Appeasing jihadists always fails, and it will fail with you too… This won’t happen (referring to the establishment of a Palestinian state)”.

Earlier, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said that Israel rejects the British Prime Minister’s statement.
