Netanyahu: I won’t give up… No Palestinian State… Israel full security control west of the Jordan River
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Saturday that he won’t give up full security control to Israel west of the Jordan River (the West Bank and Gaza Strip).
Netanyahu wrote on his account on X, “I won’t give up full security control to Israel over the west of the Jordan River, and this contradicts the Palestinian state”.
Earlier Saturday, Netanyahu denied, in a statement issued by his office, that he had informed US President Joe Biden of the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state.
Netanyah’s firm statements came in response to a report by CNN, which said that Netanyahu informed Biden that his words in a press conference on Thursday don’t aim to rule out any possibility of the establishment of a Palestinian state.
In their first phone call in about a month, Biden assured Netanyahu on Friday that a permanent political solution between Israel and Palestine won’t be possible except through the two-state solution.
Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that, as of Saturday, left 24,927 Palestinians dead, 62,388 injured, a humanitarian and health catastrophe, and caused the displacement of about 1.9 million people, meaning more than 85% of the Gaza Strip’s population, according to the United Nations.
