Netanyahu: Biden congratulated me on winning the elections and assured me that the alliance between America and Israel is stronger than ever
The Israeli opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that US President Joe Biden had congratulated him after his right-wing Likud party won parliamentary elections.
Netanyahu added in a tweet on Twitter that Biden said that the alliance between the United States and Israel is stronger than ever.
Netanyahu added that he told Biden that they could “achieve more peace agreements and deal with the threat of Iranian aggression”.
During Netanyahu’s previous term, Israel normalized relations with the UAE and Bahrain under the auspices of the United States.
Israel’s fifth election in less than four years confirmed the return of Netanyahu, who is now backed by smaller far-right and religious parties.
His victorious bloc includes Representative Itamar Ben Gvir, a West Bank settler and former member of the ultra-Orthodox Kach movement and a US and Israeli terrorist watchlist.
While Washington is reluctant to make a public verdict pending the formation of the new Israeli alliance, a Foreign Ministry spokesman on Wednesday emphasized the two countries’ “shared values”.
