Russia’s Federal Security Service announced on Monday that it had decided to deport two British diplomats on suspicion of espionage activities.

The Russian Federal Security Service said in a statement that employees involved in intelligence activities at the British embassy in Moscow had been identified.

The statement said that the embassy’s second secretary, Alkisha O’Derry, and the first secretary’s husband, Michael Skinner, intentionally provided false information when obtaining permission to enter Russia, in violation of Russian law.

The statement added, “In addition, there were indications that the diplomats in question were carrying out subversive intelligence activities that threatened Russia’s security, and the decision was made to revoke their accreditation, and the diplomats must leave Russia within two weeks”.

In November 2024, the Russian news agency TASS announced that the accreditation of a British embassy employee in Moscow had been revoked on the grounds that he had deliberately provided false information upon entering Russia, and was accused of espionage.
