More than one hundred thousand deaths in Coronavirus in Europe

The death toll from the Covid-19 epidemic in Europe exceeded 100,000, or about two-thirds of the victims in the world, according to an AFP count based on official sources Saturday at 18:00 GMT.

With 100,000 and 501 deaths (between one million and 136 thousand and 672 infections), Europe is the continent most affected by the emerging corona virus. The most affected countries are Italy (23227), Spain (20043), France (19323), and Britain (15464).

And recorded two million and 281 thousand and 334 injuries at least in the world, a figure that does not reflect the full reality, as a large number of countries only examine the most critical cases.

France on Saturday recorded 642 new deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, raising the total toll since the beginning of March to 19,323, but recorded a new decrease in the total number of epidemic patients in hospitals and intensive care units.

The French Ministry of Health said in a statement that 11,842 deaths were recorded in hospitals, after 364 additional deaths were recorded, while seven thousand and 481 deaths were recorded in elderly homes and other centers, after 278 additional deaths were recorded there.

The number of people infected with Coronavirus on Saturday reached thirty thousand and 639, a 551 retreat from Friday, including five thousand and 833 infected in the resuscitation departments, a retreat of 194 from the aforementioned day.

And for the tenth day, there is a clear decrease in the number of patients in resuscitation departments, while there is a decrease in the number of those who were hospitalized for the fourth day.

The ministry added that “the decline in needs in terms of supplies and human resources in the recovery departments is confirmed, but we are still at an exceptional level, far exceeding the familiar maximum in France” which had five thousand beds in the recovery before the epidemic started.

In Italy, on Saturday, Coronavirus deaths rose to 23,227, after 482 new cases were recorded.

A statement issued by the Italian Civil Defense Authority stated that the total cases of the virus amounted to 175 thousand and 925.

He added that the number of people recovering from the virus reached 44,927, following the similarity of two thousand and 200 patients recovering within one day.

He explained that the number of patients in intensive care units decreased from two thousand and 812 to two thousand and 733.

He pointed out that a million and 305 thousand and 833 examinations had been carried out to detect Coronavirus throughout the country, as of Saturday.

He reported that the number of deaths recorded on Saturday was the lowest in the past six days.

For its part, Spain, one of the countries most affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, announced the extension of the closure for an additional two weeks until May 9, as Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Saturday.

At the same time, Sanchez indicated that increased isolation would be reduced to allow children to leave “in a limited manner” from April 27, while this had not been permitted since the general isolation began on March 14.
