Meeting Pompeo and Bartholomew: Phanar reveals its anti-Turkish essence

842585251541520

US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo will visit France, Turkey, Georgia, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia from November 13 to 23.

During his visit to Turkey, the head of American diplomacy in Istanbul will meet with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, “to discuss religious issues in Turkey and the region and to promote our strong stance on religious freedom around the world” (https://www.state.gov/ secretary-pompeos-travel-to-france-turkey-georgia-israel-the-united-arab-emirates-qatar-and-saudi-arabia/).

It is significant that only Bartholomew is listed on the official agenda of the State Department as Pompeo’s interlocutor in Turkey, and not President Recep Tayyip Erdogan or Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Turkey is the only country where the head of the State Department does not plan to meet with state officials during his tour.

At the same time, Pompeo will come to a meeting with Bartholomew after visiting France, whose policy is extremely unfriendly towards Turkey.

This behavior of Pompeo is an open challenge to Ankara.

Old connections

The Patriarchate of Constantinople and the United States are bound by strong and strong ties. Moreover, for the Patriarchate of Constantinople, despite its name, despite the fact that the patriarch must be a citizen of Turkey, and the residence of the patriarch is in Istanbul, the United States is much closer to Turkey.

Since 1948, when the predecessor of the CIA, the OSS, dismissed Patriarch Maxim V, a supporter of strengthening ties with the USSR, the American special services worked closely with the Patriarch of Constantinople (https://orthodoxhistory.org/2019/12/11/ousting-the-ecumenical- patriarch/).

In fact, then the United States imposed on Turkey as Patriarch Athenagoras, who had previously headed the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese in America.

Athenagoras himself has previously actively worked with the American intelligence services.

Athenagoras was elected patriarch without having Turkish citizenship, which means – contrary to Turkish law.

He was brought to Turkey on the plane of the President of the United States and issued a Turkish passport right at the airport!

After the illegal overthrow of Patriarch Maximus V, the essence of the Patriarchate of Constantinople changed dramatically.

It ceased to be a Turkish religious organization and turned into an American patriarchy on Turkish soil.

The Patriarchate of Constantinople is now an instrument of influence for the United States and the American Greek diaspora.

The majority of the believers of the Patriarchate of Constantinople live in the United States, and the main cash flows come from there.

The American Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, closely associated with the American intelligence services, plays a decisive role in all the affairs of the Phanar.

Dangerous revelations

We have already written about the subversive activities of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Turkey.

In particular, in a publication in August, we talked about the details of the meeting of Archbishop Elpidophorus, head of the American Archdiocese, with US President Donald Trump, which became known to us.

Then we reported that Elpidophorus expressed dissatisfaction with the actions of the Turkish authorities in relation to the Hagia Sophia, noting that in this way he falls the authority of Patriarch Bartholomew in the Orthodox world, and this undermines the Phanar in the conflict with Moscow because of the autocephaly of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

The United States, on the other hand, openly supports the religious divide of Ukrainians with Moscow for its own geopolitical reasons.

In addition, according to our information, various anti-Turkish measures were discussed at the same time.

Trump, at a meeting with Elpidophoros, said that the situation around Hagia Sophia requires immediate intervention. It was about possible sanctions against Turkey.

Elpidophoros also lobbied for support for Greece and Southern Cyprus on the geopolitics of the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Greek media do not hide the fact that the Patriarchate of Constantinople is promoting “ideas of Hellenism” in the United States.

Bartholomew’s connections with another US agent of influence in Turkey, Fethullah Gulen, did not remain out of our attention.

Father Alexander Karlutsos, an influential figure within the American Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and a trusted representative of Patriarch Bartholomew, together with CIA officers Graham Fuller and George Fidas and American diplomat Morton Abramovitz, petitioned the court to grant Gulen a residence permits in the United States.

Back in 2012, Patriarch Bartholomew himself called Gulen his friend and actively collaborated with him in the field of “interreligious dialogue”.

De facto, Patriarch Bartholomew is doing what Gülen is doing: under the guise of a religious structure, he leads the American network of influence in Turkey.

Aydınlık previously reported that Patriarch Bartholomew, during the coup attempt on July 15, 2016, was warned about him in advance and left Istanbul in advance.

In October, we again drew attention to the anti-Turkish negotiations between Mike Pompeo and Archbishop Elpidophoros.

Then the latter did not even hide that he was discussing, in addition to spiritual issues, pure geopolitics – the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean.

At the same time, Elpidophoros again raised the issue of the persecution of Christians in Turkey.

Then we talked in detail about the ties between Elpidophoros and the American Archdiocese, on the one hand, with the CIA, and on the other, with the nationalist Greek organizations that hate Turkey.

According to our sources, the publication of revealing materials caused a stir in the American Archdiocese and Phanar.

Less than a month later, Pompeo’s visit to Istanbul followed.

Pompeo seeks to support his agent of influence on the wave of negative publications.

However, the meeting itself further demonstrates Phanar’s dependence on Washington.

Bartholomew plans to meet with Pompeo, although Turkish officials do not intend to do so.

Black Turkey

The Turkish Foreign Ministry, commenting on the announcement of the meeting between Mike Pompeo and Patriarch Bartholomew, called it “extremely inappropriate”.

“It would be more advisable for the United States to look in the mirror first and to show the necessary sensitivity to human rights violations such as racism, Islamophobia and hate crimes in its own country,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized (https://apnews.com/article/turkey-istanbul-bartholomew-i-religious-issues-mike-pompeo-5a2cdc1ef59ebd17d8ebcff1ce7a73ef).

The Patriarchate of Constantinople works closely with the United States to denigrate Turkey’s image and accuse it of violating the rights of religious minorities.

The Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, already noted by us, is especially active in this direction – the right hand of Bartholomew and his possible successor.

He regularly meets with US officials, including the US President, accusing Turkey of violating religious freedom (https://usa.greekreporter.com/2020/07/23/archbishop-elpidophoros-meets-with-president-trump-on- hagia-sophia /).

He also heard accusations of violation of the peace in the Mediterranean and the “seizure” of the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul by the Turkish authorities.

Such a structure of the Patriarchate of Constantinople as the “Order of the Archons named after St. Andrew”.

We have already written about his activities.

The order includes influential members of the Greek American diaspora, including, for example, former CIA Director George Tenet and Andrew “Andy” Manatos, a prominent lobbyist and former senior US Department of Commerce official, or Michael Carlutsos, son of Alexander Carlutsos, formerly the Chief of Protocol of the US State Department.

The Archons work closely with the US Commission on Religious Freedom, which actively accuses Turkey of violating the rights of religious minorities.

Closely associated with the Order of the Archons named after St. Andrew is a project such as the website https://christianpersecution.com/, where materials about persecution of Christians around the world are published (https://christianpersecution.com/about-us/).

But special attention is paid to Turkey.

https://christianpersecution.com/category/turkey/

The website was created in order to disseminate anti-Turkish information under the guise of objectivity.

The key persons through whom the connection between the American archons and Bartholomew is carried out are Father Alexander Karlutsos, Turkish businessman Laki Vingas and Archbishop Elpidophor.

Provoking a “conflict of civilizations”

In the early 1990s, US political scientist Samuel Huntington put forward the thesis of a “conflict of civilizations”.

In his opinion, the Islamic world is supposedly doomed to clash with the Christian.

In fact, the United States used this concept to justify its attack on the countries of the Middle East and to advance its imperialist influence.

Turkey’s accusations of persecuting religious minorities are based on this paradigm.

Thus, the Americans are preparing the ground for interfering in Turkish affairs.

Turkey is being turned into an enemy in the eyes of ordinary Americans and Europeans.

Under Donald Trump, the United States declared itself to be the protectors of the rights of religious minorities.

However, Joe Biden’s victory in the US presidential election will not change this policy.

Biden previously advocated expanding human rights programs and criticized authoritarian regimes, to which he counts modern-day Turkey.

He openly stated that he hoped for a regime change in the country and the removal of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from power.

This means that criticism of Turkey and attempts to undermine the state under it will only intensify.

The Patriarchate of Constantinople will play its role in this struggle, justifying the anti-Turkish measures of the United States, up to new sanctions, by the fight against “Islamism”.

Tendency to betrayal

However, not only Turkey should be concerned about the behavior of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

The Donald Trump administration itself, having relied on Phanar, struck a deal with a force that was ready to betray Trump at any moment.

Phanar has already betrayed Trump.

In the summer of 2020, Archbishop Elpidophorus did not take part in the Republican election congress, thereby avoiding organizing support for Trump by Orthodox Christians in America.

However, in the Democratic National Convention, which nominated Joe Biden for president, Elpidophor has already taken part.

It is significant that the Greek diaspora in the United States and the Order of the Archons actively interact with the Democratic Party, and Archbishop Elpidophor has long been taking part in the Black Lives Matter protests organized by the Democrats against Trump (https://usa.greekreporter.com/2020/06/03/archbishop- elpidophoros-attends-black-lives-matter-protest-in-nyc/).

Patriarch Bartholomew was generous with flattery in his congratulatory letter to Joe Biden, saying that the Democrat’s victory over Trump caused him “joy and enthusiasm”.

Bartholomew also called Biden the leader of the “entire free world”.

(https://www.pappaspost.com/patriarch-bartholomew-to-biden-you-offer-hope-conviction-for-a-better-future/) and again remembered the protection of religious freedoms.

Obviously, Phanar is ready to flatter both Democrats and Republicans, meet with Pompeo and ask him for help and preferences for anti-Turkish policy, and try to get Biden’s support at the same time.

Thus, Phanar demonstrates not only its unprincipledness, but also its readiness to faithfully serve any US administration.

Bartholomew supports the United States not because the policies of this or that administration coincide with the values of Orthodoxy.

He always supports the United States, no matter whether the conservative Trump is in power or the ultra-liberal Joe Biden.

All this has nothing to do with religion.

The change of power in the United States will not affect the anti-Turkish activity of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which will continue to be an ally of Washington, an agent of its influence in the fight against Turkey.
