Mayor of Haifa: Difficult economic situation in Haifa and stores are closed

The mayor of Haifa in northern Israel, Yona Yahav, said on Sunday that the city is suffering from a very difficult economic situation after the closure of shops due to Hezbollah missiles.

Yahav added to the Israeli i24 News channel that he will go to the Knesset, Monday, in order to explain to the members of the Israeli Knesset the difficult situation in the city.

He explained that “the Finance Committee in the Knesset and the State of Israel don’t understand or know the terrible and dangerous events taking place there… Haifa is targeted, the economy is collapsing and the city is economically stagnant after the shops were closed”.

Hezbollah is intensifying its targeting of the Israeli city, which includes important military and economic facilities, in addition to targeting the Krayot settlements (Haifa Bay), which resulted in material losses, fires and human injuries.

In central Israel, the mayor of Petah Tikva, Rami Greenberg, said that psychologists were deployed in the city after a rocket was fired from Lebanon.

The Israeli radio station FM 103 quoted Greenberg as saying, “Social workers are deployed at the site of the Lebanese missile strike”.

Greenberg explained that the injuries range from moderate to light, and these workers are providing the necessary answers to ease the burden on the settlers, as a result of the successive Lebanese missile strikes on their heads.

Greenberg’s statements came as Channel 12 reported that two Israelis were injured, one of them moderately, as a result of a missile fired from Lebanon hitting a building in the settlement of Petah Tikva.

Air traffic at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv, central Israel, was halted.

The official Israeli Broadcasting Authority published a video showing the extensive destruction of a building in Petah Tikva, after it was directly hit by a missile, which led to a fire.

In the same context, the mayor of Nahariya in northern Israel, Ronen Marley, said on Sunday that Tel Aviv had failed to provide security for its citizens, and had wasted huge sums of money from its budget to no avail.

According to Ronen Marley, “the State of Israel has failed to provide security for its residents, and has previously wasted huge budgets to evacuate residents of the south adjacent to the Gaza Strip”.

Marley described Israel’s decision to evacuate residents as stupid, explaining that Tel Aviv has recorded a disastrous failure in this regard.
At the beginning of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip on October 7, Israeli authorities evacuated residents of settlements adjacent to the Strip due to rockets from Palestinian factions.

With Lebanon entering a support front the next day, Tel Aviv asked tens of thousands of Israelis to evacuate their homes in dozens of settlements near the Lebanese border.

In mid-September, the Israeli Security and Political Affairs Cabinet added the safe return of residents of the north (on the Lebanese border) to their homes to the goals of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip (eliminating Hamas, releasing detainees, and ensuring that Gaza doesn’t pose a threat to Israel’s security).

Despite the passage of more than a year since the genocide in Gaza, Israel hasn’t succeeded in achieving any of its four goals, whether those related to the Gaza Strip or returning the residents of the north to their homes.

After clashes with factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, which began the day after Israel launched a destructive war on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in more than 148,000 Palestinians killed and wounded.

And in Lebanon, Israel expanded the scope of the war to include most areas of Lebanon, including the capital Beirut, through airstrikes, and began a ground invasion in the south.

The Israeli war on Lebanon resulted in a total of 3,754 killed and 15,626 wounded, including a large number of children and women, in addition to about 1.4 million displaced persons.

Meanwhile clashes on ground counties, and Hezbollah responds daily by launching missiles, drones and artillery shells targeting military sites, intelligence headquarters, military gatherings and settlements.

While Israel announces some of its human and material losses, military censorship imposes a strict blackout on most of the losses, according to observers.

According to the Israeli army casualties in both front, the death toll among the Israeli army reached 804.
