Macron and Zelensky call for new sanctions to be imposed on Russia and France will provide more weapons

French President Emmanuel Macron and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky called for increasing pressure on Russia by imposing “new sanctions”, according to a joint statement issued by the two countries after their talks Sunday evening in Paris.
The two countries declared that Ukraine and France agree on the need to increase our collective pressure on Russia by imposing new sanctions with the aim of weakening its ability to continue its illegal war of aggression.
France will provide dozens of armored vehicles and light tanks for brigades in the Ukrainian army, as the two countries announced after a dinner that brought together Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky at the Elysee Palace.
“In the coming weeks, France will train several Ukrainian battalions and equip them with dozens of AMX-10RC armored vehicles and light tanks,” a joint statement said.
It added that Paris was also focusing “its efforts on supporting Ukrainian air defense capabilities”.
