The French Le Parisien newspaper said, citing a Lebanese security source, that an Iranian spy provided Israel with information about the location of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, which led to his assassination on Friday.

Nasrallah was martyred in a violent Israeli strike that targeted a Hezbollah command headquarters in the southern suburb of Beirut.

Le Parisien reported that the “Iranian spy”, whose identity wasn’t revealed, was the one who informed Israel of Nasrallah’s arrival at the site before he was targeted.

The report indicated that Nasrallah arrived in the southern suburb of Beirut in the same car that was used by the deputy commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Abbas Nilforoushan, who was killed in the same attack.

The French newspaper also said that the meeting attended by Nasrallah and Nilforoshan included 12 high-ranking Hezbollah officials, adding that Israel waited for Nasrallah’s meeting with Hezbollah’s leaders to begin, to carry out the raid that targeted their headquarters in the southern suburb of Beirut.
